Introducing the Hungry Bear 100!

On May 9th, 2015, come join us in Cable, WI for the Hungry Bear 100, an all-wilderness gravel race. Enjoy the great northwoods in the spring, and maybe even see a waking black bear too!

The Hungry Bear 100 will circle around Lake Namekagon, giving you a full wilderness gravel experience, without any stop lights, or convenience stores to refuel at.  You will need to prepare for everything, but you will get the benefit of 100 gorgeous miles in the Chequamegon National Forest.

We like to think of gravel racing as the road racing for mountain bikers. So even though its not a direct fit, we are using the Hungry Bear 100 as a fundraiser to start a NICA league for Bayfield and Sawyer county students. As with all Advocate Cycling Productions events, 100% of the entry fee goes towards making cycling better in our communities.

In order to donate 100%, we have great sponsors that help us pay the operational costs of these events.  Please make sure you patronize the Angry Catfish Bicycle Shop and Twin Six Cycling Apparel whenever possible.

Come join us.  Riders are limited to 200, so sign up now!

    • Todd,

You get the cue sheet when you sign your waiver; come prepared to ride 100 ( or 60) miles and trust that we won’t lead you too far astray!

  1. So Todd McFadden has to wait to get his cue sheet with his waiver? That seems fair. How about me? Can I have a GPX file in advance? We should definitely keep Todd in the dark for as long as possible.

    • HA! While I’m all for keeping Todd in the dark, I’m also a supporter for keeping you in the dark, too! 🙂 Cue sheets will be handed out the day of the event. I promise you’re in good hands with Tim!

  2. Is a cross bike or mountain bike recommended for the 60 mile course? What about the 100 mile course? Thanks!!
